Another boxing day haul and other recent purchases

t'was a rainy vancouver day; typical
May I start off by saying one of the most cliche sayings one can possibly hear during this time of the year; has an entire year seriously gone by ..already
So Happy New Year from us at reverie city to you! Amidst the festivities of the holidays, I really lost all track of time, and it doesn't help that daylight is such a rare occurence during the winter season. I'm definitely guilty of the fact that the sun begins to set the moment I wake up. But who can possibly pass up those extra few hours of sleep..or ten haha.

For a self-proclaimed shopaholic like me, the holidays are additionally the time for all those amazing end-of-the-season sales, or more precisely, the amazing deals found on Boxing Day. This year, I decided to avoid the hurdles of crowds and lineups at the mall, and ventured off downtown where I was quite surprised by the deals I was able to find. Most of the things I ended up purchasing were marked down by 50% or more.

I focused mostly on adding some basics onto my wardrobe, which inculded essentials that can easily be matched with anything.

I had to stock up on some leggings from Forever 21 as I wear them practically daily during school days, and how could I possibly pass up these spiked denim shorts from Topshop? And yes, they're the ones Eva bought as well :p

Decided to jump on the burgundy/oxblood trend by starting off with a simple toque, and I picked up some leather pants alongside since I've been wanting a pair for quite some time. Both are from H&M.

My wardrobe's been lacking some cozy knit sweaters, so I was extremely happy when I saw some sales on them. The baby blue and blush pink sweaters, and forest green cardigan are from Zara. The black sweater is from Forever 21.

A pair of black leather heeled booties have been on my wishlist for a while now; not only can I use it to dress up a casual outfit, it also helps elongate my legs when paired with any black bottoms. I got this pair at Naturalizer.

Overall, I think I succeeded in my attempt to add more colour to my wardrobe, and to stay away from buying everything from the black & white colour pallette. I can be a walking fifty shades of grey sometimes.. literally yikes. Below are some outfit inspirations containing the items I bought, illustrating how I would probably wear them myself as they were influenced by items I already own in my closet (or want to own ha ha).

Here's to an amazing 2013! What are your resolutions?
